Hello folks, Please see the accommodation page here and the note about the Royal Hotel and provisional booking for Saturday 13th July. We heard from a number of folk that due to self catering accommodation running from Saturday to Saturday there was a problem for the night of the 13th, therefore we made a block booking in the Royal Hotel to ensure rooms for that night. The hotel have been very helpful, however they have not had many booking and now have enquiries from other parties unconnected to rowing, so if anyone needs to book for the 13th please do so as soon as possible. Saturday 2nd of March – We have been invited to do the teas at the Village Hall car boot sale so come and get your cuppa, sandwiches and lovely baking – great value.
Fashion Show in the Village Hall 09/11 : Many thanks to all who helped with this one, whether organising or attending, we made the fantastic sum of £1203 out of which we have to pay the use of the hall and some advertising so net benefit to the Worlds Fund is an unbelievable £1113.00 CHRISTMAS FOOD DEMO IN THE SEAFORTH 15/11 : Another good evening, lots of great foodie tips, brussel sprout pate even – who would have thought of that ? it had a nice kick of horseradish and garlic and surprised a few sprout haters ! Loads of food was produced and we raised £283.00 plus some calendar sales. TEAS IN THE HALL 17/11 : Another success, vast array of fabulous baking and sandwiches prepared by a core of our UCRC members, plus Karen & Kate from LBSC and Hazel & Nick who are always happy to bake for us. We made £351.00 plus calendar sales so we are very happy with that. It takes our total local fundraising since mid August to the amazing sum of £2347.00. Have to say, huge thanks to all concerned, but in particular Donna & the girls at the West Highland Woollen Shop and Brigitte, Harry and all the team in the Seaforth for all their hard work and great support, thanks also to the Village Hall for having us to do the teas & food at their events in the hall, apparently we have a reputation for good baking (!) so that is nice to know and long may it continue. The St. Andrews night quiz and fun night at the Arch was another good night and raised over £900.00 which is amazing, that was followed by the Christmas Fair in the Village hall where we sold lots of stuff and made a bit more money for the Worlds fund.Bag packing at Tesco 28th & 29th of December made £432.34

Can you give me some info on the fundraiser you are holding on 30th March (Kimberley told me about it) and I will put it up on SARC page. We are hoping to get some members to come up for it. Thanks, Elsie
Hi Elsie,
This is the rough idea from Kimberly:
DAYTIME: The plan is to put Ulla up on the grass at the side of the Seaforth from 12pm – 3pm. From there we will take registrations for a childrens egg hunt. The children will all be given the first clue at the boat and then have to follow around the village for clues in the local shops, they will have to collect a coloured card from each shop (These will be attached to the clues as not to keep disturbing staff). The final clue will lead them to a hidden rowing club member who will present the children with their prizes.(A small bag of sweets/ Easter egg). We would be looking to charge £2.50 – £3.00 per entry but there will be no out lay as I will be providing the prizes as my donation to the club. Ulla will be put back as soon as the hunt is over.
EVENING: We have managed to get the band The Rogues to come and play for free, as the Seaforth will be covering their fuel costs for us. The band will be ready from about 10pm as there will be food served until 9.30pm. The event is themed Irish / Estater with optional fancy dress for those ambitious. Brigitte is kindly applying for a late licence for the night which will mean the pub being open to 2am. We will have donation buckets on the bar and a bucket at the front door of the Seaforth. We are still unsure whether it will be free entry until 11pm and charge on the doors after this but it may get complicated trying to cover three exits, so this is not confirmed yet. From midnight we will have a small table set up in the foyer / patio of the pub selling stoves we will also be pushing the sale of the car raffle tickets instead of doing our own.
